The location for Tacoberfest 2008 is The Eagle Adventure Company's Eagle Ranch on Ice Mountain in beautiful, rustic Copperhill, Tennessee. The 120-acre Eagle Ranch actually straddles the Tennessee/North Carolina border.
Cost:
The cost for attending Tacoberfest 2008 is $75/person. This covers your lodging and food/beverages for the weekend. There are no discounts given for partial-weekend stays due to the administrative nightmare that would cause. Children ages 7 and younger are free. Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for give aways that we'll do Saturday evening. You can register for the event on our registration page.
Accommodations:
The ranch features rustic bunk houses that can sleep up to 250 people total (4-8 people per cabin). The bunks in the ranch bunk houses will be available strictly on a first-arrival basis. There will be NO reserving bunk houses. Each bed (twin-size) in the bunk houses has a mattress and a bottom sheet. You'll want to bring either a sleeping bag or blankets and a pillow as they are not provided. It is important to note that these bunk houses are NOT luxury 5-star hotel rooms; they are very rustic and provide just the bare minimum in order to sleep. Some of the rooms have electricity, but none of them have heat (we don't anticipate this to be an issue under normal weather conditions).
Tent camping is also permitted in the large fields around the ranch. If registrations exceed 250 participants, we will be posting a reminder that you may want to bring a tent if you show up late and the bunk houses are full. If the idea of "roughing it" isn't your style: there are many hotels in the nearby towns of Ducktown (5 minutes) and Murphy, NC (15 minutes). There are bathroom and shower facilities on the premises. Toilet paper is provided, but you will need to bring your own bath towel and other bathroom necessities (toothbrush, etc.) For those truly addicted to the Internet, free Wi-Fi access is available in and around the main pavilion area. Food and Beverages:
We will be providing food and (non-alcoholic) beverages for all attendees from Friday evening through Sunday morning. If you wish to enjoy alcoholic beverages, you must bring those yourself. There is an indoor/outdoor pavilion dining area for eating and hanging out. A menu of meals served will be posted in the discussion area as we get closer to the event.
Activities and Entertainment:
The ranch has many activities including hiking, volleyball, horseshoes, paintball, field for football/hockey/frisbee. There are also 3-4 large campfire areas that we will be making use of. There are a few mild off-road trails on the premises with more difficult trails about 20 minutes away. Nearby Route 74 also provides an excellent scenic drive through the mountains and down by the Ocoee River. Of course, we suspect the main activity of the weekend will be checking out everyone else's Tacomas.
Dogs are permitted on the ranch. If you do decide to bring your pet, please be responsible and clean up after them. Weather:
Weather in Copperhill, Tennessee is usually very mild during October. Highs during the day are usually around 60-70 degrees with lows in the 40s-50s at night.

We would like to continue holding this event at this location (and we think you'll agree), so we need to be careful not to damage anything on the property. The basic rules of respect apply here. Also, there is a lot of gravel at this location and anyone throwing gravel on another vehicle or persons will be IMMEDIATELY ordered to leave. |
